First off, What is a favicon? I didn't know the term until a few hours ago but I knew that I wanted one. A favicon is that little hibiscus to the left of the url. Just look up. Lots of websites have one. Here's how to get one yourself...
Get a small image, actual size is 16X16 pixels and save it as a .ico file. You can do this easily at www.favicon.cc. You can also design one right on the website.
It is said that you can put it in the root directory and browsers will pull it up, but I'm working with only part of a website so I just put this code in the header of each page that I want it to appear on:
or if it's in your images folder:
If you're having trouble getting your favicon to show up, beware of what your quotation marks look like after the copy and paste. You might need to redo them. Have fun.

I had a lovely weekend seeing my sister and parents. My sister loved her tropical shower and her and her husband (they got married at the court house and are now doing the big wedding thing) stayed the night at my parents house with me so we were able to go out to dinner and then brunch together before taking me to the airport on Sunday. To top it all off I got to pull a "Home Alone" and run through the Chicago airport to catch my connecting flight home. I was the leader of the pack of about 4 people. I led us from one end of the airport to the other. One woman was going to Lincoln also. We sat together on the mostly empty flight and talked the whole way back. She works at UNL so Zara and I are going to go say hello after my meeting with my advisor on Wednesday Morning.
I am registered for classes for the fall. I guess that makes it official. I'm a student. :)

I know you aren't expecting any witty commentary about tax day so I won't try and think of any.

Zara took an afternoon nap in her own bed today. As in she tucked herself in and fell asleep unbeknownst to me. She is still fighting an ear infection so I wonder if the napping is due to her fighting off the sick or because after so many accidental naps last week she has come to embrace them.
It's after 11pm and we are having a late night. The little ones are in bed. Brad is on the computer. Brittan is in the shower. I'm blogging, obviously, and waiting on banana bread. Alora is cleaning dishes. Sometimes procrastination gets the best of us. I must say I have had fun hanging out in the kitchen with my girls (Brittan just finished mopping) and listening to the Plain White T's and the Mama Mia Soundtrack on YouTube.
We'll be tired in the morning. :)

It has come to my attention in recent weeks that a lot of parents get upset when their kids don't eat all the food in their lunch boxes. To me this is silly, if your kids don't eat all their food, pack them less. If they don't eat the food you pack because they don't like it, pack something different. More importantly, fifth graders can pack their own lunches. Supply them with healthy choices and sandwich bags and they can do the rest.
My girls don't really seem to mind that other parents have odd lunch packing habits. They help their friends eat all their Cheetos so they don't come home with leftover food. They love eating the food that their friends would happily throw away just so their parents don't get upset. I've thought about calling these parents to let them in on what's going on but I decided to write a blog instead which will hopefully benefit more than just a handful of people.
More important than changing your bagged lunch policies, is to have open honest communication with your children. I think that's why this lunch issue bothers me so much. Children feeling the need to lie to their parents over something so miniscule just screams of poor communication. I have told my children to tell me right away if we ever start to set up a pattern like this in our home and I hope that I'll be willing to listen to them.

It looks like I'm going back to school. I got my acceptance letter today which actually came in a very thin standard business envelope. Of course I also got a thick package about campus housing. I'm so glad I don't have to live on campus. I can just recycle that one, goodbye. I don't have much else to say.
Work is going well. I'm working from home answering phones and setting up appointments for an IT company. It's quite fun and it's new company and the owners are fun to talk to. I don't know that I'll ever meet them in Person which is weird. This is my first time working form home.
I have no idea how we are going to work everything in the fall. I will have to plan around work, my school, and my children in three different schools. Maxwell and Zara will need to be taken to school and we think Alora and Brittan will be able to use the public bus system. They have it set up for students who are going to schools in different areas. We still don't have a pre-K for Zara and are trying to figure that one out. Zara and I have been visiting local Pre-Ks to see what she likes and check out the different programs. We have never paid for pre-K before with the other kids. Every state is different. Pre-K is amazingly expensive!
I'm sorry I don't have anything more interesting to blog. This entry certainly isn't as riveting as my chat with phillip. :) (see below) I am excited about going back to school but I have a bit of a cold today so my head feels yucky.
On an up note, Bradley and I spent way too much on DVDs last night and can now watch BAttle Star Galactica up to half way through the 4th season. We watched the first 2 episodes of season 2 last night. It's such a fun show to watch. I get so excited, I think it scares Brad. :)

Time for a new blog. Hopefully this one is easier to read, but still fun. Cara is busy with her new job and trying to keep the house running smoothly. She also has a problem writing about herself in the third person due to too much time spent on facebook.
We are doing well. We have several inches of snow on the ground that fell Friday night. It is now Sunday evening. Maxwell has his first loose tooth which is very exciting for all of us. On a down note, he had an allergic reaction to something this afternoon which led to him throwing up and his eye almost swelling shut. We're still not sure what he ate that caused it. He's feeling better after a long bath and shower and some Benadryl.
